Workshop: What I Would Tell You if I Could Find the Words

  • 15 Nov 2014
  • 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM
  • Wilton, CT

WHAT: Workshop presented by The Ties Program--Adoptive Family Homeland Journeys.: TEENS & TWEENS--WHAT I WOULD TELL YOU IF I COULD FIND A WAY

A unique and interactive workshop. (Due to the sensitive nature of the material, this workshop is best suited to parents, internationally adopted adults and adoption professionals.)

If you will be raising, are raising, or have raised an internationally adopted tween or teen, chances are you'd like to have a better idea of what they're thinking about. At this workshop, you will hear and experience the thoughts of international adoptees....shared openly and honestly.

This workshop will help you hear teens and tweens thoughts on:
*Fitting in
*Relationships with their birth & adoptive families
*Adoptee loyalty
*Poverty
*Understanding their background
*Why...the ever-present question
*Abandonment issues
*Insecurities
*Control issues
*Self Worth
*Hope

We will also provide suggestions to help you create a strategy that will strengthen the relationship with your child.

A “Conversation on Heritage Travel” will be offered after the workshop, for those interested. (approximately 3:15 - 4:00 pm).
