Families with Children from China New England

Tufts China Care Dumplings Program

  • 24 Jan 2015
  • 10:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Tufts University, Mayer Campus Center Room 203

Tufts China Care Dumplings teaches children about Chinese language and culture through fun games, crafts, and other activities.

Through monthly meetings the kids develop meaningful relationships with China Care Dumplings members, who act as role models and mentors.

Each child is paired with a mentor. It is nice if they can come to as many meetings as possible so that they get to know their mentor well; however, Families are not obligated to attend every meeting.

Past activities have included making paper dragons to celebrate the new year, playing Chinese hopscotch and, of course, cooking dumplings!

Currently kids range in age from about 4 to 11 years old, but anyone who is interested in learning more about Chinese culture is welcome!

From an FCC family: "Our family has been participating in the Tufts University Dumplings program for a few years now and we love it . . . so we'd like to spread the word! The program is small and intimate, which works really well for our daughters. The Tufts students who volunteer for the program are warm and kind; they're wonderful role models for our children. Some of the Tufts students are Chinese adoptees themselves which is just an amazing connection for all of the program participants!"

When: The group meets one Saturday a month from 10:30 am to 12 noon.

2015 dates:
1/24 - Chinese New Year
2/21 - Geography of China
3/28 - Chinese Arts
4/11 - Night market
