Cindy Probst, MEd, LCSW, Adoption Specialist

Cindy Probst believes that the stories of children's beginnings belong to them. She has a particular talent for framing difficult truths in ways that are empowering to children, and for teaching their parents to do the same. Cindy works with parents, both individually and in groups, to help them think about how to share the stories of their children's early lives with them, in ways that nourish the spirit, while also honoring the truth. She was "discovered" by the New England chapter of Families with Children from China in March 1999 and has been responding to requests for workshops ever since. She recently has begun offering her lifebook workshops outside of Massachusetts, meeting with an enthusiastic response.

In addition to facilitating the lifebook workshops, Cindy Probst provides gentle feedback to parents as they compose their children's lifebooks, via e-mail, telephone, or in person, on a sliding scale basis. Cindy is the author of “Adoption Lifebook: A Bridge To Your Child's Beginnings”, a workbook based on her lifebook workshops is now available.

Cindy Probst holds masters degrees in both education and social work. She serves as an adoption specialist and supervisor at Concord Family and Youth Services (CFYS), a Massachusetts adoption agency, where she assists families who are adopting children both inside and outside of the United States, counsels birth parents, and works with children who are in the care of the state. For fifteen years she worked as a specialist in early intervention, actively providing support and expertise to families with babies and young children. Cindy is also an FCC parent.
